A message from scientific leadership
The Miami Project therapeutic pipeline is helping to move new discoveries to the clinic with treatment interventions targeting the acute, subacute and chronic phases of injury. Significant progress is being made in the area of acute care where the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neuroprotective interventions such as therapeutic hypothermia are being clarified to enhance our human trials.

The Henry G. Steinbrenner Scholars Program
The Henry G. Steinbrenner Scholars Program is a prestigious 10-week in-person summer internship focused on topics in neurotrauma. As a funded, merit-based, researcher-driven program, the Steinbrenner Scholars undergo didactic and practical training from experts at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, including active participation in Miami Project research. These positions provide an opportunity for exceptional students to work in state-of-the-art research laboratories, utilizing their knowledge and laboratory skills to take on specific functions and projects as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami-Miller School of Medicine is the world’s most comprehensive research center specializing in spinal cord injury. Student Opportunities
Both graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to volunteer or accept part-time paid positions in many of our laboratories. The Miami Project’s affiliation with the University of Miami Graduate Neuroscience Program makes it a prime location for the mentoring of eager students. Graduate students in the UM Neuroscience program are trained in cellular, molecular, and integrative neuroscience and have the option of choosing mentors from among Miami Project faculty.
