Departures, Bal Harbour Shops and Bal Harbour Village Support Destination Fashion — Saturday, November 10, 2012

Academy Award winning actor Tommy Lee Jones and his wife Dawn Jones will be honorary event chairs

November 17, 2011 – Bal Harbour Shops, Bal Harbour Village and DEPARTURES magazine are joining forces in support of The Buoniconti Fund’s premiere South Florida event, “Destination Fashion” on November 10, 2012 at Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Florida. “Destination Fashion” is an incredibly unique evening including a spectacular fashion show presented by a world renowned designer who will make a personal appearance, an over-the-top concert performance by a high profile entertainer and numerous surprises.  Academy Award winning actor Tommy Lee Jones and his wife Dawn Jones will be honorary event chairs of this grand affair, which is attended by notables from the worlds of fashion, entertainment, sports and philanthropy to benefit The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, the fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

Moving the event date from Saturday, March 3, 2012 to Saturday, November 10, 2012 provides the opportunity for DEPARTURES to create Destination DEPARTURES—dynamic programming and one-of-a-kind experiences—and include DEPARTURES readers, who are Platinum Card® and Centurion® members from American Express, to partake in what promises to be authentic luxury in support of this national cause and event.

DEPARTURES Vice President, Publisher Steven DeLuca commented:  “We’re thrilled to be joining The Buoniconti Fund on this important benefit and are pleased to offer our partners exclusive access to connect with DEPARTURES’ sophisticated and affluent readers at this one-of-a-kind experience in South Florida.  The campaign’s signature events, including the fashion show and other stylish activities, truly speak to authentic luxury and elegance—characteristics that are at the core of the DEPARTURES brand.”

The Buoniconti Fund/The Miami Project Founder and NFL Hall of Famer Linebacker Nick Buoniconti stated: “I believe in partnerships and a winning team to accomplish our goals. Twenty-six years ago, American Express was one of the first corporations to join our team to find a cure for paralysis. Now, twenty-six years later, American Express is still standing up for those who can’t and partnering with us on this one-of-a-kind event at Bal Harbour Shops to raise awareness and funds to help millions worldwide walk again.”
