I am so proud that The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis is celebrating the 32nd Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner.  What an incredible milestone!  The monies raised at these magical evenings have surpassed any goal I would have ever imagined – over $350 million.  This funding has been the impetus driving The Miami Project’s cutting edge research to achieve what we have today, the most comprehensive spinal cord injury research center in the world.  The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis employs over 200 world- renowned scientists, investigators and support staff dedicated to finding a cure for paralysis.

The Miami Project Human Clinical Trials are showing safety and success using neuroprotective and reparative techniques.  We have completed our acute studies and are continuing our chronic spinal cord injury trials.  We are sharing information and positive results with our fellow researchers around the world, as well as our published findings in leading scientific journals – all incredible milestones.

The building of the state of the art Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center for The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Health Systems will complete the circle of providing care from the point of injury to receiving the most effective clinical care and rehabilitation anywhere in the world.

Once again and with great humility, I Thank You ALL – The Buoniconti Fund Board of Directors, the Great Sports Legends Honorees, our wonderful donors, tireless volunteers, Dinner attendees and our University of Miami President Dr. Julio Frenk for your continued vision and support.

Curing paralysis is in the near future.  We are changing medical history one step at a time and I will continue to work very hard to make sure the dream becomes a reality.  This is my promise to my son Marc and to the millions of paralyzed people worldwide.

Together We Will Cure Paralysis!
