In an effort to enhance the research efforts of the scientists at The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, The Buoniconti Fund established volunteer Chapters in 1992. These Chapters are a vital element to reaching The Miami Project’s goal -- a cure for paralysis.
I hope this month’s message finds you and your loved ones well. I am proud to tell you that our Founder and Chairman, Dr. Barth A. Green, continues to travel back and forth to earthquake ravaged Haiti, spearheading the University of Miami’s efforts to offer relief in a very difficult time. We should all take some time to reflect of how fortunate we are to have the things we do, and think about how quickly circumstances can change. As recent events have shown, and as we have been saying from the beginning of The Miami Project, in a split second lives can change forever. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those suffering from this devastating event and with those trying to offer assistance.
On a much lighter note, this month I would like to introduce something a little different in an effort to get people to know more about the amazing researchers I have the great fortune to work with on a daily basis. Periodically I will conduct a brief interview with one of our scientists and present that interview in a question and answer format. Hopefully this unique glimpse into the laboratories and the minds of those working here day in and day out will prove both insightful and informative.
